Angela Rayner resigned, but renting still needs fairness. Discover why Homesty posted a parody Housing Secretary job — and how we deliver real reform.
Why We Posted a “Housing Secretary” Job on LinkedIn — and What It Means for Fair Renting
Angela Rayner’s resignation left a big vacancy in Westminster. But if we’re honest, the Housing Secretary role has always been one of frustration: big promises, bigger delays, and a rental market still stacked against both landlords and tenants.
So why did Homesty post a parody “job spec” for Housing Secretary on LinkedIn?
Because it makes a bigger point: fairness in renting shouldn’t rely on politics.
Politics Can’t Fix What Landlords and Tenants Actually Need
Labour’s Renters’ Rights Bill promised reform, but like every political cycle, the detail has become bogged down in scandal and delay. Meanwhile, landlords are exiting the market and tenants are left chasing fewer, more expensive homes.
No wonder trust in the political process is at an all-time low.
At Homesty, we believe the future of renting doesn’t depend on another Housing Secretary. It depends on a platform that makes things fair, transparent, and safe — today.
Our LinkedIn “Job Ad” Was Really About This:
No agent fees. Ever.
Just £39 flat per tenancy — fair for landlords, affordable for tenants.
Direct landlord–tenant communication — no middlemen, no prejudice.
Safety baked in with Stripe-secured deposits and DocuSign contracts.
That’s more real reform than any ministerial reshuffle has delivered.
Why Now? Croydon & Birmingham, 16th September
We’re starting a Beta of our Homesty App in Croydon and Birmingham this September because these cities reflect the real challenges of the UK rental market: high demand, rising costs, and landlords who feel squeezed.
Homesty is designed to restore fairness. To give landlords control and tenants a fair chance. To make renting human again.
Final Word
We posted a LinkedIn job ad for “Housing Secretary” because someone has to step up. If politics can’t fix the rental market, then platforms like Homesty will.
On 16th September, we launch in Croydon and Birmingham — not with empty promises, but with a fairer way forward.
Because landlords and tenants deserve more than slogans. They deserve action.
